This program is designed to support the advancement of scientific research in archival document management, specifically in the Sultanate of Oman and more broadly across the Gulf countries. It provides an opportunity for individuals with a diploma or bachelor’s degree in archival studies, or related fields such as information management and historical studies, to further their academic and professional development. The program aims to develop students' advanced skills, preparing them for leadership roles in administrative institutions and equipping them with the expertise to become capable researchers and educators in the future.
Number of credit hours:
36 credit hours are required to obtain a master’s degree. The curriculum includes 12 courses (9 mandatory courses and 3 elective courses).
Duration :
Full-time : 4 semesters / 2 years
Part-time : 6 semesters / 3 years
1. Bachelor’s degree in records and archives or its equivalent from a recognized university
2. Bachelor’s degree in one of the specializations related to the program or its equivalent from a recognized university, with a condition of passing remedial courses (pre master courses) for no more than 9 credit hours according to the student’s status.
3. The cumulative GPA should not be less than 2.25 out of 4.00, or its equivalent in any other grading system.
4. A student holding a diploma in records and archives or other related fields, with at least six years of practical experience in a work area compatible with the specialization, and a GPA of no less than 2.75 out of 4.00, may be accepted. The percentage of such students shall not exceed 20% of the total number of accepted students.
