Max has been teaching academic writing, English for the professions, linguistics, literature, and research for 10 years in the Philippines and Singapore. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Studies: Language (cum laude) from the University of the Philippines, and a Master of Arts degree in English Language and Linguistics (by research) from the National University of Singapore. She is co-author of the senior high school textbook Reading and Writing Skills (2016/2019/2024) published by REX Book Store. She is published on the topics of historical revisionism, critical discourse analysis, and multimodality in the Journal of English and Comparative Literature. She has presented her research in at least 15 international conferences.
