Dr. Mohammed Khalifa Al Sinani, an assistant lectutrer
in Curriculums and Methods of Teaching in the College of
Arts and Humanities participated in an interactive meeting
entitled: ”PhD Viva Voce Experiences and Questions“ via
Google Meet that was organized by the Postgraduate Group
at Sultan Qaboos University on Wednesday, 12 August 2020
from 9:00 -11:00 am. The meeting aimed at enriching and
developing PhD students’ skills in defending their thesis. It
also tackled a number of ideas and skills that the research-
er has to take into his consideration before, while and after
defending his viva. The set of skills includes: being ready
which can be achieved through thoroughly rereading the
thesis, expecting the questions that may be asked to him by
the committee, preparing a visual aid that summarizes his
thesis and trying to be optimistic. It is also crucially signifi-
cant for the researcher to be a good presenter and to com-
municate effectively with the members of the committee. A
number of lecturers who have graduated from Sultan Qa-
boos University participated in this interactive meeting to
exchange their perspectives and experiences.
